Policies
Cancellations: Consistency is very important for your child’s success; if you need to cancel we encourage you to schedule a make-up appointment within two weeks. We will assist in accommodating you.
When a cancellation is necessary please give as much notice as possible. Cancellations made less than 24 hours prior to an appointment are subject to a $40 cancellation fee.
Arrival Times: Please arrive 5-10 minutes in advance of your scheduled appointment. This allows for a smooth transition into the session. Arriving late can impact the quality and length of your session.
Parent Availability: It is not always necessary to be present for your child’s entire session. Each child and session is different and it is best to discuss your plans with your therapist. Should you step out of the clinic during your child’s session, we ask that you leave your cell phone number with the office so we can reach you in case of an emergency. Kindly return 15 minutes prior to the end of the session to facilitate the transition and to be available to speak with the therapist if necessary.
Siblings: It is wonderful to meet a child’s siblings, see the interaction, and get to know the family. When bringing siblings, we encourage you to stay for a brief transition thereby directing the focus on the therapeutic needs of your child.
Allergies: Please inform us of any allergies.
Food: For the safety of all of our clients with food allergies, eating is not permitted in the waiting room. Eating during sessions is also discouraged. Occasionally, a child cannot sustain the longer sessions without a brief snack. Please feel free to discuss exceptions with your therapist.
Electronic Devices/Toys: No electronic devices such as cell phones or Game Boys should be used in the waiting room or during sessions. Permission will be given by the therapist for computer use when appropriate to treatment.
Adverse Weather: Many of our families come from a distance and we want everyone to feel safe when driving to Project CHILLD. If schools are closed, Project CHILLD may delay opening but we usually do not close. Please call our office for updates. If we are closed, you will receive a cancellation call.
Lending of Materials: Project CHILLD maintains and continually adds to our “Resource Library”. This includes books, journal articles, research documents, videotapes, and resource lists. We encourage you to utilize this. All materials are available for use in our waiting room and some are available for lending. If you borrow something, please inform the front office and return all materials within 7 days.
